13 Dec, 2021 | Tranzitt

Are you planning a trip to the UK? Unsure what to bring with you on the trip? Our comprehensive UK packing list includes everything you'll need for a vacation to the UK this holiday season!

Travel Documents

Make sure your passport/visa and other travel documents, such as your travel insurance, are safely stored in your hand luggage or backpack. Also, check if the travel visas are up to date. It's also a good idea to make a copy of them and keep it in another luggage before leaving in case something gets lost.
Make sure you have all the reservation and travel itineraries (an electronic copy too), tour and hotel contact number, transportation tickets, and emergency contacts in your luggage. Have a copy of them in another luggage or in a backpack.

Medications/ First Aid Kit

Don’t forget to bring your daily prescription medicines. If you prefer, you can bring over-the-counter medicines for motion sickness, fever, headache. Label all the medicines with your name on it.
Ensure you pack a top-notch first aid kit containing plasters of various sizes, dressings, bandages, adhesive tape, tweezers, scissors, antihistamine lotion, hand-sanitiser, and alcohol-free cleansing wipes in your suitcase.

UK Road Map

If you're planning a trip to the UK this Christmas or any other holiday season, bring an up-to-date UK road map with you. You never know when you'll have to rely on it! Also, it's better to get a spiral-bound map rather than a bound one, as you can fold it flat for easy viewing. You can also download offline maps through Google Maps if it’s convenient for you.

Backpack

Navigating the United Kingdom is thrilling, and you will be out exploring most of the day. In this situation, a backpack is an excellent choice. It's quite comfy, and it's ideal for carrying all of your necessities like water, a map, a wallet, a camera, snacks, and your phone.

Packing Cubes

Packing cubes can help you organise your things neatly and keep small items like cosmetics, underwear, and power cables from wandering about in your suitcase. Regardless of whether you're a roller or a folder, they can help keep your clothes wrinkle-free.

Coat/Jacket

When you're planning a holiday in the UK during the winter, you’ll surely need a jacket or coat. Don't forget your scarves, gloves, thermal socks (if needed) and woolly beanies! After all, everyone knows how unpredictable the weather in the UK can be.

Walking Shoes

Wherever you plan to travel in the UK, it's always a good idea to pack a nice pair of walking shoes if your travel plans are in summer/spring. Whether you're an avid hiker or simply enjoy strolling around the beach or town, invest in a pair of comfortable trainers or boots.

Cash/Cards

Bring some cash and a debit/credit card as you need money for travelling. Always have some cash handy as some places accept only cash. Before you travel, call your debit/credit company and let them know that you are travelling abroad and also know about the transaction fees.

Money Belt

If you think you need to carry a money belt only when travelling to places where pickpocketing is a problem, you're wrong. Carrying your cash and cards in a money belt keeps them close to you at all times, making it more difficult for burglars to snatch your bag or purse and run.

Umbrella

In the UK, it rains a lot, and it can range from a light shower to days of torrential downpour, so an umbrella is essential. Even if the weather appears to be fine before you go, it's ideal to have one as a rain cloud could arrive out of nowhere.

Books

If you are an avid reader, don't waste your baggage space with all your favourite books. An eReader is light and portable and can store thousands of books. Why not download some of your most-liked fiction and non-fiction books to read during your trip.

Reusable Water Bottles

Carry a reusable water bottle with you so that you can fill it up at sinks and water fountains and avoid paying for drinks or purchasing bottled water. You will be helping nature by avoiding the usage of plastic bottles. There's no need to spend money on water because it is safe to drink tap water anywhere in the UK.

What're you waiting for? It’s time to pack your bags and head to the UK for a fantastic winter vacation!
