Students budget-friendly/free places to explore in the UK

Being a student and talking about holiday destinations, we’ll have to be a bit humble and we all know that we can’t afford luxury. Despite the fact, students can have cheap holidays and sometimes free places to visit in the UK.

London, UK
Living in England, but not living in London, why not visit the capitol? Some of the free activities:
  • Free Museums - for history lovers, this place is a heaven, such as National History Museum, British Museum.
  • Parks - Grab a snack and enjoy a picnic or visit the green spaces for a stroll. Some of the best parks are Hyde Park, Greenwich Park, Kingston Park, Green Park.
  • Sky garden - want to explore the magnificent 360 degree views of London, Sky-garden is a must visit and it’s free, but you have to book in advance online.
  • Watch the Changing the Guard ceremony outside Buckingham Palace.
  • Watch Tower Bridge open.
  • Art galleries - Discover art by worlds best, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, National Gallery, for contemporary art, visit Tate Modern and more.
  • Free Live Music - See accomplished musicians performing at the Royal Academy of Music.
  • Free Live Festivals - Celebrate Chinese New Year in London’s Chinatown, join the party in Pride in London, see the live parade during St Patrick Day.

Cotswolds, UK

When you go to London, you should plan a day trip to the Cotswolds. It’s just over an hour's journey by train. You can rent a bike, a horse, or even book a Cotswolds walking tour. You’ll soak up in nature, but you’ll also enjoy the markets. This is where you experience the idyllic rural England at its best. Enjoy a picnic by the brook in Castle Combe, one of Britain’s prettiest villages. Mountain biking has become increasingly popular in this place. If you want to experience the scenery and relax in the green spaces, do not miss the Cotswolds. For garden lovers, visit Hidcote, named one of the 10 Great British Gardens, features a wide range of flowers, shrubs, and trees, many of them rare varieties.

Cornwall, UK

From breathtaking beaches to quaint little harbor towns, Cornwall is one of the top student holiday destinations in the UK. Don’t forget your camera for the sparkling blue sea, picturesque fishing villages, deep-wooden valleys make for the perfect postcard snaps. Students can rent Camper vans for the real adventures or can stay in the Airbnb. With plenty of cultural and historical sites to visit like the Eden Project and St. Michael’s Mount, you won’t be disappointed. Lake District, UK

This place is increasingly popular among the students due to its wide variety of outdoor sports activities. From zip lining to caving, from glamping to mountain biking, open water swim, activities are endless. Lake District has some of England's finest scenery, covering over 800 sq.miles, this place is the ultimate detox from the busiest University life. Literary buffs will enjoy Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage, to see daffodils or you can enjoy a leisurely drive through beautiful scenery.

Edinburgh, UK

Want to have a refreshing city break and experience the UK's best cultural hotspots, visit Scotland's capital Edinburgh. During summer, catch the World renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and during the winter, visit some of the best Christmas markets. Nightlife is great for students with a long stretch of bars and clubs, which is also cheap. Who doesn’t love Harry Potter movies, then visit the filming locations for the old medieval castles and Georgian architecture.
